What is Alacrán?
A desktop app that gives AI agents a lasting memory of your business and puts anything consequential behind your approval. It runs on your computer and keeps everything in plain files you own.
Is it free?
Yes. The app is free to download for macOS and Linux, with no paid tier and no account with us. The AI agent you connect is billed by its own provider: Claude Code, for example, needs a paid Claude plan.
What leaves my computer?
Your prompts go to whichever AI agent you picked, when you run it. The app checks for a new version at most once a day. Your files go to GitHub only if you press Back up. Voice goes to a speech service only while you are speaking to the assistant. There is no analytics and no telemetry.
Which AI agents does it work with?
Claude Code, Kiro, Kimi, and Google Antigravity, with Codex in beta. Each company picks its own, and you can switch at any time without rebuilding its memory.
Do I need to be technical?
No. Alacrán is being built for founders who have never opened a terminal. The app installs and signs in to the agent for you, and technical controls stay hidden unless you turn on Advanced mode.
What stops an agent doing something I did not want?
Three layers. Jobs Alacrán runs land as a change you review before it is kept, and every change is in version history, so you can undo it. Inbox and chat connections are read-only. And every agent is told to stop and ask before spending money, making commitments, deleting data, publishing, or changing access. That last one is an instruction the agent follows, not a lock, which is why the first two exist.
Does it run on Windows?
Not yet. Alacrán runs on macOS 12 or later and on Debian or Ubuntu Linux.
What happens if I stop using it?
You keep your folder. Your company memory is Markdown, YAML, and git history on your own machine, readable without Alacrán.
